![]() ![]() This is a serious issue that could have turned into a deadly issue had I been driving on the street at the time and hit someone else because I was unable to stop my vehicle. The dealership never said a word about this, I found out from doing my own research on the internet this afternoon. My master cylinder broke and was leaking fluid into the brake booster, and I found that Ford finally issued a recall notice for this in May 2016. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership for repair and they NEVER told me there was supposed to be a recall issued for this problem. Fortunately, I was in a parking lot at the time and not driving as I usually would have been at the time this occurred. I frantically pumped the brakes and was able to get the vehicle to stop. I hit the "ok" button to acknowledge the message and then tried my brakes and the pedal went straight to the floor with no resistance. I had NO warning that this was going to happen other than a message popping up on my gauge that said BRAKE FLUID IS LOW and then my brakes went completely out. This whole experience was very troubling from the brakes not working on a busy interstate, to having to pay almost $9K to just go home. I go back to Wayne Akers pay a bill for $8,847.24 for a new engine so I can drive back home. On Aug 21st at 3pm, Johnny calls me to tell me the vehicle is ready. The only option I had was to replace with new engine, even though it was NOT the engine that was to issue when I bought it in, it was the brakes. We I explained to them that I can’t be away from my current job for 4-6 weeks, Johnny offered to have Enterprise Car Rental work on a monthly rate for me. Please remember that i do not live here and all my paperwork and files are at my home in Atlanta, over 600 miles away. ![]() The service manager than asked that I provide every oil change receipt since buying the truck in 2013. I did not know why they were asking that, but I did provide them that day with the last oil change information that was performed on this vehicle (2600 miles before this). This was the time that they also said that the engine had sludge in in and ask if I have ever changed the oil. When I arrived, they the top off the motor and said that the vacuum pump was broken and caused the cam to lock up. I drive to Wayne Akers to talk with Johnny in person and see what was going on. I did not understand what he was saying due to the fact it was the brakes that I brought the vehicle in to them for, not the motor. 10th, that there was a “major issue and that I may need a new motor”. I received a call from Johnny two days later, Aug. Johnny was the service person that I was assigned. ![]() I was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer very slowly due to the brakes not working, but made it there at 7:30am on Aug 8th. I immediately called and made an appointment to drop the vehicle off at 7:30am the next morning at Wayne Akers Ford in Lake Worth, FL. The brake pedal was VERY hard to push and made a horrible noise when I could them to stop. While driving on interstate I-95 in South Florida my Check Brake System light came on and I noticed that the brakes were not working. A trip that I make 2 -3 times a year in this vehicle. I am writing to inform you of my 2013 F150 FX4 Ecoboost BRAKE ISSUE that cost me $8,847.24 to fix from Wayne Akers Ford Service Dept.Īug 7th I was driving from my home in Atlanta, Ga to visit my mother in Florida. I have 240k on the truck but it's only 6 years old. How can this not be a recall? Ford is going to KILL people, the NHTSA and government should be involved and declaring this a safety recall that has no expiration date. ![]() This seems to be happening to a lot of people's vehicles but I've not found a fix for the issue. I replaced it last night and the brakes are still the same. After extensive research I found the vacuum pump (non electronic) had oil residue leaking from it. The brakes have felt and acted this way for the last few weeks (don't drive it much). It will go away if the key is turned off then back on. If I pump the brakes multiple times, I get a message displayed that says check brake system and the red brake light comes on. This is extremely dangerous in the event of emergency braking. If pedal is forced harder there is a creaking noise, and a lot of extra effort is needed to stop vehicle but it will come to a stop with both feet and a lot of pressure on pedal. I went to apply brakes at a red light and suddenly the brake pedal is very hard. ![]()
